Current Friends Project
Bird Blind, Thousand Springs State Park
Using a matching grant from Watchable Wildlife, Friends of Idaho State Parks is raising money for a bird blind in the Crystal Springs Unit of Thousand Springs State Park. The site is adjacent to the Snake River in an area where water fowl frequently congregate. Viewing them now is all but impossible because of a dense stand of willows. This project would remove some of those willows, install a viewing platform, and build a blind so that wildlife watchers and photographers can view the birds without disturbing them. The project also includes the development of a small parking lot.
The site is uniquely situated to provide excellent wildlife viewing without bothering the birds. The thick stand of willows that will remain on either side of the blind will continue to provide protection for waterfowl.
